About us

Welcome to IMAKS!

The Laboratory for Imaging and Kinetic Spectroscopy (IMAKS) at North Carolina State University is located in Partners III building on Centennial Campus and is a part of the Department of Chemistry. It was established by Professor Stefan Franzen in 2002 as a vibrational spectroscopy facility. The funding was provided by private foundations, National Science Foundation and NC State University. In summer of 2007 the facility took over responsibility for the microscopes that had previously been part of a research center and thus entered into the field of optical microscopy. With Professor Felix (Phil) Castellano joining the Department in 2013, the research scope of the facility expanded into the areas of time-resolved emission and transient absorption spectroscopy on subpico- to microsecond time scales.

For additional information about the facility please contact IMAKS Director, Dr. Evgeny Danilov (danilov@ncsu.edu )
